Every wash is a number of litres.
A pressure lance draws six to eight litres a minute and an open hose draws fifteen to twenty, so we publish what that works out to on your car.
A litre figure is two numbers multiplied.
Draw at the nozzle, times the minutes the trigger is actually open. There is no third term. Everything else a wash tells you about water is decoration on top of those two.

Fixed by method. A lance is a trigger somebody holds. A hose runs from the moment it is turned on until somebody remembers to stop it.

The only figure that matters to the person handing over the keys, and the one the category does not print on anything.
Neither input is a trade secret. Both are on a spec sheet anybody can read. Publishing the product of them is simply something no car wash near us does, which is the entire reason this page is longer than a line.
Eighty litres is the ceiling we open with.
80litres, at most
Ten minutes of open trigger at eight litres a minute. Both numbers sit at the top of their range on purpose, so the ceiling holds on a filthy car in the middle of a bad afternoon and not only on a good one. A typical wash lands under it.
The same car, three ways of washing it.
One shared scale running to 200 litres. Solid to the low end of each range, faded out to the high end.
A pressure lance draws 6 to 8 litres a minute, and the trigger is only open while somebody is working a panel.
A tunnel wash puts 100 to 150 litres through every vehicle. Nothing a driver does inside it lowers that.
An open hose draws 15 to 20 litres a minute and keeps drawing while somebody wipes the car down.
Hyderabad already put a price on the other way.
Not as a warning. As the reason a litre figure is worth printing at all: the city has been treating water on a car as a use worth counting for longer than we have existed.
We have no relationship with the Hyderabad water board and nothing on this page is legal advice or an approval of any kind. It is a published rule, quoted because it is the reason we bothered to work the number out.

The Hyderabad water board lists it alongside watering lawns, filling pools and hosing down streets with treated water.

Penalties run Rs 20 to Rs 1,000
Plus Rs 100 a day for as long as the use continues. That is the penalty range for misusing treated water as it stands today.

A resident of Journalist Colony was fined Rs 1,000 for washing a car with drinking water. Journalist Colony is in Jubilee Hills, which is where this bay will be.

The board has proposed raising penalties of this kind. It is a proposal and not law, so it is not a figure to plan around and we are not going to print it as one.

A number is only worth anything next to the numbers a business refuses to invent. These are ours.
- Where the water goes afterwards
- Drainage and whether any of it is recovered is a fact about one specific site, and ours is not commissioned. So there is no recycling claim on this page, no percentage reclaimed, and no diagram of a system we have not installed. When there is one, we will name the equipment and publish what it actually recovers.
- What we will publish once we trade
- Litres per wash off the meter, a monthly total, and the months we go over eighty. A figure that only ever appears in the good months is worth nothing, and everyone reading it knows that.
- What is already settled
- The draw at the lance. Six to eight litres a minute is the machine rather than an intention, it does not drift when we get busy, and it is the one number on this page that was never ours to negotiate.
